Description: An easy to grow shrub growing to 70cm with bright green leaves and hundreds of glossy red berries. Called Ardisia or Coral Berry and yes it is old fashioned, very popular in the 40's - 50's indoors but it grows even better outdoors in the semi shade. They can be seen in temple gardens in Japan. Stunning fruit during winter last for many months.
Use: This plant can be grown indoors or outdoors. Foliage contrast in shade, a very colourful plant in full shade. Plant with other shade loving companions such as Mahonia, liriope, hellebore, fatsia and sacred bamboo (Nandina domestica).
Varieties: There is a variegated leaf form and another with white berries.
