1. Souvenir de Louis Armade (Delbard/Grand Parfum Collection)
One of the best roses of the fragrant Grand Parfum Collection, this lovely Delbard rose has large, lavender pink double blooms produced in clusters and showing golden stamens. 2. Paul Cezanne (Delbard/Painters Collection) A delicate rose from Delbard, named for the great artist and part of the Painters Collection. Wonderful mixture of yellow with soft touches of white, orange, dusky pink and ochre. A strong bush with pale green foliage. Subtle fragrance of grapefruit, lemon blossom, rose raspberry syrup. 3. Graham Thomas (David Austin) One of the most widely grown and best loved English Roses from David Austin. ‘Graham Thomas’ has been voted the World’s Favourite Rose by the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) which represents over 100,000 rose lovers in 41 member countries. Cupped blooms are coloured an unusually rich and pure yellow. Growth is upright, bushy and vigorous. Shiny, pale green, disease-resistant leaves make this an excellent rose, both in beauty and performance. A fresh 'Tea Rose' fragrance, with a cool violet character typical of its colour group. 4. William Shakespeare 2000 (David Austin)
Without doubt, the best crimson English Rose to date from David Austin of course. It is a truly superb variety with exquisite blooms of the richest velvety crimson, gradually changing to an equally rich purple. Deeply cupped at first, the flower opens out to a shallow quartered cup. Growth is neat and upright; each stem bearing a number of flowers. 5. Abraham Darby (David Austin)
A well-formed shrub of shapely, bushy growth. Early summer blooms are large, deeply cupped in shades of pink, apricot and yellow, and in spite of their size, thet keep coming for the summer and autumn seasons. 6. Crepescule (Noisette/Dubreil 1904)
An old climber with apricot-copper blended blooms, spectacular in full flower. lightly fragrant, glossy foliage, grows approx 250 cms, Best grown as a tall weeping standard rose, and can also be grown on pergolas, arches and pillars. The semi double blooms are produced on semi-pendulous canes that will reach ground level in two to three seasons. Fully recurrent. 7. Madam Isaac Pereire (Bourbon 1881)
A lovely old climbing rose with huge shaggy blooms in mauve-crimson and heavy fragrance, possibly the most fragrant of all roses. In humid areas it is susceptible to Black Spot and benefits from regular spraying with Eco Oil and Eco Rose. Available from Swanes Nurseries (02) 9651 1322

9. Pierre de Ronsard Meilland 1985
Raised by the famous Meilland rose growers in the south of France to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the death of the famous French poet. Grown it over an arbour or ideally as a pillar rose displays the blooms to their best advantage. White to pale pink blooms deepening to carmine in the centre. Blooms freely and repeatedly. Fragrant.

From the breeder of Pierre de Ronsard comes a very special partner to complement an already popular rose. This new pillar climber produces masses of large, burgundy red, double cupped blooms with a light fragrance and ‘old world’ appeal.
