Star of the Season: the flamboyant dahlia.

Unashamedly bold, brash and beautiful; it’s time to pick armfuls of them to fill your home.

We combine our dahlias with buddleias which make perfect partners, especially the new Buzz Series buddleias which never stop flowering (if you keep dead-heading).

Dahlias love the sun and need staking to support their heavy stems. Don’t allow them to flop as their flower stems will twist making it difficult to pick them and arrange in vases. They grow from sweet-potato-like tubers which are planted in September.

Keep them moist but don’t over-water or the tuber will rot. Liquid feed with Sulfate of Potash every two weeks to encourage more blooms.

For details on how to grow these generous flowering plants, see our story here, Plants We Love: Darling dahlias.
